A new owl tour centre

The Owl Foundation

The Owl Foundation, originally called the Owl Rehabilitation Research Foundation, was founded by Kay and Larry McKeever in the 1970s. The Owl Foundation's commitments include the survival of Ontario's owls through rehabilitation and release of injured birds, and educating the public about the vital role of owls in the ecosystem.

Many of the over 100 owls they receive annually are transferred from rehabilitation centres and veterinary clinics after initial medical attention is given. The Owl Foundation provides these birds with quality convalescent care that few other facilities can offer, as well as assessments for training and release and considerations for their captive breeding and foster parenting programs.

The Gordon and Patricia Gray Animal Welfare Foundation's donation was used towards the Owl Foundation's ambitious task of building a new tour centre, which was the extensive renovation of an old, unused building. They are now able to showcase their work and offer educational opportunities to the public.
