The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is Canada's leading national land conservation organization which serves to protect our most important natural treasures--the natural areas that sustain Canada's plants and wildlife.

The NCC secures properties (through donation, purchase, conservation agreement and the relinquishment of other legal interests in land) and manages them for the long term. Since 1962, NCC and its partners have helped to protect 14 million hectares (35 million acres), coast to coast to coast.

Funding from The Gordon and Patricia Gray Animal Welfare Foundation was used towards the Leblanc Project in Rice Lake Plains. The Leblanc Project is a high priority for wildlife and for grassland birds in particular--including several bird species at risk--and the Eastern Hog-nosed Snake.
